If you thought to yourself, “yes, I ''do indeed'' hate the mainstream news enough!”, you’d be wrong! The “Associated Press” published [https://apnews.com/projects/israel-gaza-war-pager-attack-survivors-hezbollah/?taid=689358e1698d6b0001e70663 this absolute banger of a story] entitled, “Survivors of Israel's pager attack on Hezbollah struggle to recover”. I apologize for being unable to provide “sickness bags”.

Between the outrageously anti-Israel and frankly antisemitic articles from sources such as the AP, the NYT, and the BBC (not to mention the actually Nazi posts on social media) and far more subtle ones from CNN etc., is it any wonder that Israelis (and many non-Israeli Jews) feel there’s no sense in even trying to “win” the PR battle?

Then you have incidents such as Iberia (the airline) [https://www.timesofisrael.com/iberia-serves-jewish-passenger-a-kosher-meal-with-free-palestine-written-on-it/ serving up antisemitism] to paying customers. France [https://www.algemeiner.com/2025/06/06/french-rabbi-tells-two-attacks-one-week-antisemitic-hate-crimes-rise/ doesn’t want to be left behind] either. Nor is [https://combatantisemitism.org/newsletters/weekly-report-august-7-2025/ the USA] unaffected.

I’m beginning to get really, really, pissed off.

We had a busy week, starting with the fast of 9Av (which went surprisingly well for us). Then Esther had a medical appointment which involved fasting as well, so she was hoping for some serious weight loss; sadly, a day or two of fasting doesn’t quite do the job.

I assembled the circuitry for the FrankenLamp™ (FL) and [https://ronware.org/img/lamp-housing.jpeg installed it in a housing]. I’ve started on the mounting, but that will have to wait ‘til next week, ‘cause I’m out of time this week. I measured the light output of my current “high intensity lamp” (800 lux), and FL on low-intensity (1000 lux) and high-intensity (10,000 lux). So, achievement unlocked!

Our shower head was becoming defunct, so I got a shiny new assembly with a somewhat ridiculously large head; now we can feel we’re in a hotel at home!

Last but not least: I worked on my ''shiur'' for next Monday, on “olives”. It’ll be a great one!

The weather for ''shabbat'' is supposed to be “beastly hot”. Highs approaching 40C, which is in my humble opinion, entirely too hot. It’ll stay hot for some days, though probably not as hot as that, one hopes.
