Hi again!

Anything I say might sound banal, after this week's [http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1227702336066&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull events in Mumbai]. Ironically, well-meaning people have told me to stay away from India (which as you recall, is where my company has business dealings). Ironic, because not two kilometers away is the occupied enemy territory of [[Media:03-and-azariya.jpeg|El-Azariyah]], formerly known as {{wiki2|Bethany_(Jerusalem)|Bethany}}, formerly ''beit-hate'ena'', "fig place", in Hebrew. Just to complete the ironic circle.

But for true banality we must look to the pen of [http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/389583_amyonline28.html self-declared experts] on the Gaza situation. I've a suggestion for Ms. Goodman: move to Gaza. Maybe you'll be witness first-hand to the plight of the poor Gazans, who have water and electricity courtesy of the "Zionist entity", and whose smuggling tunnels enable them to [http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,587114,00.html purchase anything they want]. Including Viagra and sheep. I don't suppose I should have mentioned those two in the same sentence.

The week has been extremely busy for me, as I am trying to coordinate my project as well as write a substantial portion of the software. Getting technical information from our client is an ongoing form of torture for me, but progress is (very) slowly being made. Hopefully I'll be able to move on to another project pretty soon.

In addition, it was Thanksgiving in the US -- and being good expats, we did the Thanksgiving thing as we've done for twenty years. It was very nice having my cousins over for a relaxing meal. Hopefully we won't wait so long before our next get-together. Our reporter in Manhattan, Daniela, reported that the "Macy's" parade was "pretty cool".

Today we had a rainstorm. For five minutes, it rained; then it stopped. We ''really'' need rain - I hope our prayers for it are answered soon! Especially since we did have a gardener take care of clearing out the overgrowth and getting our garden in order this week. I would blame "global warming", but after the [http://scienceandpublicpolicy.org/monckton/goreerrors.html embarrassingly long list of scientific errors] in Gore's self-serving "documentary" about it, I think I'll blame insufficiently sincere prayers on my part instead.

 It's been another crazy week.  The tragedy in Mumbai last week affected us here both directly and indirectly.  Not only were our fellow Jews murdered in cold blood (which, sadly, is nothing new), but some of the victims were laid to rest here in Jerusalem.  Beyond that, our company has extensive dealings with India (and we have Indian staff), so our colleagues there were quite shaken.  And finally, numerous people suggested helpfully that I might want to stay away from India -- as though there is any place in the world "off limits" to the animals who perpetrate these atrocities.
-There were comments posted in various places on-line to the effect that, yes, several Jews were killed, but lots more Indians were -- so it wasn't anything especially to do with Jews.  Of course, that was before one of the captured terrorists admitted that one of the goals was specifically "to kill Jews".  But even without that: 171 Indians were killed, and 6 Jews.  The population of India is 1.1 billion, of whom 50,000 are Jews.  That means that while Jews constitute 0.0045 percent of India's population, they made up slightly more than 3.5 percent of the victims.  Given that even long term residents of Mumbai don't know where the Chabad house was (or even that it existed), it would beggar the imagination to think the terrorists had not specifically targeted Chabad house.  May God avenge His servants' split blood!

		+	Work has been extremely stressful; our clients have a great deal of difficulty understanding how little they know. They then blame us for not having told them things (which they should have known, but which are in any case written in the document they were supposed to have read). As the "manager" of the project, I get to tear my remaining hair out trying to communicate exactly what they need to do (and what they want of us). I definitely don't get paid enough for this...

		+	We did get out one night this week, to hear a presentation at the local observatory. Yes, there is actually an observatory in Maale Adummim. Not only that, but there is a fledgling "astronomy society". Who would have thought it?
