Hi again! <br />

Last ''shabbat'', we were minding our own business, having a lovely meal -- when all of a sudden, a blood-curdling shriek stopped us cold in our tracks. Little did we know that a dastardly ''djuk'' (cockroach) had infiltrated our perimeter defenses, and was attempting a terror attack against my daughters! Since one may not kill even a ''djuk'' on ''shabbat'', we had to sweep it out of our abode; and fortunately it remained outside our hallowed halls. However, we did bring in the exterminator this week, to "take care of business".<br />
<br />
Those same daughters had some fun this week. Daniela went on a hike with some of her friends, in the Ein Gedi area. The next day she went with Sarah and another friend to the beach at Ashdod. But all was not fun and games; Sarah is still in the midst of her final-exams period -- but soon that'll be over.<br />
<br />
Then today, since Daniela decided to make the ''shabbat'' dinner, Esther and I went to the "farmer's market" in Gush Etzion, about 40 minutes from our home. Besides being a nice drive, it was interesting to see some things we don't normally (raspberries, for one!) and to support our fellow "settlers" -- particularly since the Fakestinians have declared an "embargo" against anything produced (by Jews) in Judea and Samaria. <br />
<br />
In the Old Country, a preponderance of the members of our synagogue were from the former Soviet Union. So as the years passed, I became quite fond of Russians (I know, not all of them were Russian...) and found much in common with them. This week served to strengthen that bond, as some secular Russians [http://muqata.blogspot.com/2010/06/infiltrating-israels-left.html infiltrated a far-left demonstration] in Tel Aviv. Man, I would have liked to be there!<br />
<br />
<br />
This week we're having (at least one and maybe) two of Daniela's friends for ''shabbat''. Dinner this week is being made mostly by Daniela, and will include: fried eggplant, roast peppers, lentil salad, tuna salad, barbecue chicken, undecided soup, green beans, carrot-sweet-potato ''kugel'', ginger-snaps.<br />
