Hi again!

A cold and wet (almost freezing!), but otherwise routine week. We went out for dinner with a friend of ours. But the highlight of the week was talking to Daniela, and "meeting" her boyfriend.

Normally such meetings are awkward, at best. I remember meeting Esther's father for the first time, ''many'' years ago -- it was a bit frightening for me. Probably for her, as well. But since Daniela had taken ''so'' long to introduce us, I think we felt almost as if we knew the guy already, so the "meeting" was not particularly tense. And I have to say, anyone who knows [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Group_theory group theory] can't be all that bad!

Not to be omitted from the discussion, Sarah reports: "Sarah is an exceptional girl who should get everything she asks for because her parents love her as well they should because she's the best daughter ever. In the world. Out of everyone ever who ever had a daughter. She rules them all." I guess she doesn't have self-esteem issues.

This week marked the "celebration" of [http://apartheidweek.org/ Israel Apartheid Week]. Brought to you by the empty-headed poltroons who are at the vanguard of the "BDS" ('''B'''oycott, '''D'''ivest and be '''S'''tupid) movement. If any of these numb-skull never-had-beens had ever visited Israel and seen what [http://realjerusalemstreets.wordpress.com/2011/03/08/israeli-apartheid/ real Jerusalem streets] are like -- with the free mixing of Arabs and Jews -- they would know (but never admit!) that they are so totally full of crap, they could single-handedly fertilize all the farms in Israel. Jews are, by and large, not permitted to live in Arab countries (and our own piss-partners of the PA have stated numerous times that no Jews will be allowed to live in a future PA state). But these stupid tools' outrage is directed at the ''only'' country in the Middle East with a vibrant democracy, and where civil-rights are actually enforced by law. Wonder why?

This week someone said that Israel isn't a ''real'' democracy, since you can't ''do whatever you want''. I wonder: in what universe is ''democracy'' synonymous with ''anarchy''? It ''is'' true that we do not have an American-style democracy here. But we do have, arguably, a more representative government than the USA (not that I think that's necessarily a good thing). It is also true that we have plenty of problems, some quite difficult! But it is ''also'' true that this country, for all its faults, is a real democracy -- which strives however imperfectly to give its citizens equality before the law. The fact that Israel is not even seven decades old, yet has accomplished more than all the surrounding countries -- should give pause to its detractors, both domestic and foreign.

I've been working on incorporating feedback on the [http://dev.ronware.org/p/targum ''targum'' project] so far; the work is not going quickly. Mainly because I'm very tired most of the time, after getting all my vital forces squeezed out of me at work. But, B"H, ''shabbat'' is here!

This ''shabbat'' one of Sarah's friends is staying with us. For her pleasure and ours, we'll have: tuna salad, tabbouleh, eggplant salad, beet salad, coleslaw, onion soup, baked chicken, mushroom ''bourekas'', eggplant lasagna, roasted veggies, veggie chili, rice, sausages (barely even human).

Until next week,<br>
shabbat shalom!
