Continuing last week’s woeful saga: ten (10) rodents were trapped in total, seven of them fully adult and the last three juveniles. They were sent off over the precipice, never (one hopes) to be seen again.

After dispatching the last of them, I cleaned the area they were in and sprayed with a strong cleaning solution, then I patched up the place I’m pretty sure they were using as an entrance. But I ran out of patching materials before completely finishing, so that’ll have to wait for next week. I do think we’ve got them beat, for now, anyway.

On our “memorial day”, the weather was hot and windy. So to commemorate it, our “cousins” [https://www.jpost.com/breaking-news/article-852155 decided to set multiple fires] all across Israel. Last I checked, ''eighteen'' pregnant child journalists had been arrested on suspicion of setting fires, but there are probably others. The next day, our national holiday (Independence Day), we had guests and made barbecued chicken and steak, along with potato salad, various other sides, and drinks. A good time was had by all, and my facility at building things from others’ discards was well received. The weather was delightful and we ate outside.

Since Esther’s got an outing with her threadly buddies this morning, ''shabbat'' preps are up to me. Fortunately, we’ve got ample leftovers from yesterday’s barbecue. I’ve only got to make the dessert and another side, and we’re golden!

The weather (except for one hot day) has been very pleasant. We’re looking for some cooling over ''shabbat'', and then gradual heating until mid-week when another heat-wave is expected. Such is life in the ME!

This ''shabbat'' we’re looking to feast upon:
 
homemade ''ḥalla'',
barbecued steak and chicken,
coleslaw, potato salad,
butternut squash,
baked yams,
various salatim,
and date-nut cake.
