It was another productive week for us. We started off getting ready for the two-day “Rosh HaShanah” holiday. During the holiday itself, we split our time between services and eating. Feeding the man’s spirit as well as his body, so to speak. We had pleasant company for both nights’ meals, and we think we’re off to a pretty good start for the Hebrew year 5777.

After the holiday, one of our Israeli potential clients actually signed on the dotted line, so we now have a signed contract and will be providing consulting services on a part-time basis to them! Our other Israeli potential client is still working out the exact verbiage he wants on his contract, so while it’s “in the works”, it’s also taking them a while to get to the point. Just this morning I received an email from yet ''another'' Israeli potential client I thought was a definite “no”; turns out he wants to meet. You just never know…

The most immediate (signed and sealed) client sent me a lot of information to review prior to my information-transfer meetings with him at the start of this coming week. So I’ve been going through the heap of material. Some of the things I’m quite familiar with, and some are completely foreign. That’s par for the course in my line of work.

Esther was working furiously this week on those days when it was possible, because the US tax deadlines are approaching and the firm she works at needs to finish up a lot of tax forms. So both of us have been working a lot, and hopefully we’ll get to a “steady-state” where the amount of time and effort we have to spend reaches a manageable level and stays there. It will in Esther’s case; not so sure about mine.

Sarah continues the search for a job in her field. I advised her to try to expand her search parameters a bit so she could find more possibilities even if they were less to her liking. I also advised her to target specific places she would like to work and to simply show up on their doorstep and introduce herself, tell them the kind of work she would like to do, and the kinds of work she would be willing to do, etc. It’s a number’s game, so the more you play the more likely you are to succeed.

Daniela has been teaching her high-schoolers for a while now. I still have a hard time imagining that her personality is a good fit for teaching adolescents, but she seems to enjoy it much of the time.

Sarah’s abandoned us for her friends this ''shabbat'', so Esther and I will go wild with the menu:
