Before their entry to the Land to conquer it, Moshe tells Joshua that he should not fear the residents of the Land, because God will fight on the behalf of the Children of Israel, and they will not have any reason to be afraid. Why did he need to say this? Because after they refused to enter the Land to conquer it after the incident of the spies, '''And the LORD said unto me: 'Say unto them: Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.' In the first incident they were not victorious -- and perhaps it is logical they would be frightened lest God not help them now. But in that same incident, '''ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and were presumptuous, and went up into the hill-country''' {{hcite|p/pt/pt0501.htm#43|ibid 43}} -- whereas now, '''ye shall not fear them''', because you are doing His will, may He be blessed.

And regarding this one may say that God does not impede the one who rebels against Him and follows his own desires, rather he removes from him His help -- as we see regarding the battle against the Emorites. God took away His supervision and help from the Children of Israel, and therefore they fell and failed.
