{{pasuq|And Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made all that the LORD commanded Moses|p/pt/pt0238.htm#22|Ex 38:22}}
{{pasuq|…as the LORD commanded Moses|p/pt/pt0239.htm#31|Ex 39:31}}

The expression '''as the LORD commanded Moses''' appears in this section seven separate times -- each time in connection with the completion of one of the tasks which Bezalel and his helpers performed in order to build the Sanctuary. It would have been sufficient for the Torah to say at the end of the section, "and Bezalel did… as the LORD commanded Moses", and we would have known that he indeed performed the work properly. Why does the Torah emphasize this point so much?

Moses' greatness was principally due to his humility. Were it not for the Torah praising him, we would not know of his greatness. So too Bezalel. The Torah does not tell us he was a special, uniquely creative artist; rather, God filled him with wisdom: '''And He hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship''' {{hcite|p/pt/pt0235.htm#31|Ex 35:13}}. Bezalel performed the work precisely as he was commanded by Moses, directly from God. He did not swell with pride and think his talents were specifically his, rather he accepted with humility that whatever he was, was by God's help, may He be blessed.

Therefore the Torah praises him with the phrase: '''as the LORD commanded Moses'''. The "understanding" God gave him was not only that he comprehend the work, rather also that he understand that he is the Creator's creation, and that all his creations are influenced by Him, may He be blessed.
