We did a lot of stuff this week, but I’d be lying if I said I remembered all of it!
Among other things, we got “indoor” plants last week, which we placed just outside our front door, in shade; this week, I hooked up irrigation for them so they will hopefully survive.
And in the long saga of my vertigo-spells, this week I went to PT for it and the guy performed the Epley maneuver on me, and mostly fixed it! I go back in two weeks for a review, and to have him help me with the TMJ issues.
Of note:
- My SIL’s long-form video: Who is the Real Cohen? What DNA reveals.
- My friend’s blog on “The Fourth Quarter”, a new social contract. Here’s more about them.
- Why Israel doesn’t want US military aid anymore.
- Our piss-partners: Jordan removes ‘Israel’ from their parliamentary minutes. And the “moderate” so-called “Palestinian Authority” paid half a billion shekels to terrorists. I’m all for a stray Iranian missile hitting the Muqata.
- It’s looking like the long-expected war is imminent. It would be rather poetic if the IR regime were toppled on Purim.
- The downsides of “connected appliances”: a hobby coder creates a vacuum robot-army.
- CA Governor Gavin Newsom to a black audience in GA: I’m just as dumb as you are! (paraphrased)…
- Language nerds: why the worst idea in linguistics won’t die.
- History nerds: what was the “pillar box war”?
I started working on the “power supply”. First step: trying to find an enclosure which will hold the original supply as well as the extra bits and pieces I’m adding. That was a bit trickier than you might have thought, but since I don’t throw out perfectly good stuff, I was able to find a suitable enclosure which just requires some fabrication work. Then I did some work on the control software, though more needs to be done.
I also got (the very next day!) the replacement UPS battery I’d ordered this week, swapped out the dead battery, and now my UPS is UPSing properly, B”H!
The weather this shabbat is supposed to be colder than average (finally!) and perhaps with some drizzle.
This shabbat we’re still hoping to avoid incoming missiles! We’ve got guests, and our menu will include among other things:
homemade ḥalla,
baked chicken,
rice,
other things,
various salatim,
and some sort of dessert.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
