June 22nd
Nothing very exciting to report this week. Esther is still in the USA with Daniela, Jeremy, and the twins. She’s got another week and a couple days to go before she returns to her anxiously-awaiting husband. Said USA’n family is trying to get its sea-legs in preparation for Esther’s return home. The babies don’t care about any of it, as far as I can tell…
Mom and I made a trip to Tel Aviv to visit Sarah and bring her things which I had saved up to bring her. We had a nice afternoon early-dinner/late-lunch with her at Azrieli Center mall, and then we took her home and gave her the “gifts”. It was a nice, but kind of long, trip.
Other than that, it’s just been work, work, work!
One of my 8th customers found a problem running on Windows. After I looked into it, I found the problem was somehow related to my using a pretty old compiler to make that build of 8th. So I’ve been working on fixing that; it’s not a lot of fun, but I’m making progress.

Someone on Reddit asked: Is it possible for a deck of cards to be shuffled accidentally into perfect order? The short answer is: yes; however, it’s so unlikely, you’re much more likely to win the lottery ten times in succession. To be precise, the probability of shuffling any specific arrangement of cards is 1 in 52! (52 x 51 x 50 x …), or 1 in 80,658,175,170,943,878,571,660,636,856,403,766,975,289,505,440,883,277,824,000,000,000,000 (8.0658x1067). Now that’s a big number!
N.B.: you can calculate that easily (with the formatting) in 8th using the command-line:
8th -e "needs math/factorial ', ,# 52 n:! . cr bye"
… in case you’re curious.

Well, I’ve got to start preparing food for the three shabbat meals, so please excuse me until next week!
The weather’s turned summery: hot days and cool nights; it’ll stay like that until October more or less, so unless something unusual is in the forecast, I’ll omit mentioning weather until then.
Mom and I are alone once more this shabbat. I’m preparing:
homemade ḥalla rolls,
potato-leek soup,
honey-soy glazed lemon chicken,
roasted sweet-potato salad,
lamb stew,
rice,
tuna salad,
maybe some salatim,
and fruit.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
