She told me I ''cannot'' fast on “Yom Kippur”, and have to instead [https://asktherav.com/1166-how-do-i-eat-and-drink-on-yom-kippur-with-shiurim/ eat “half quantities”], unless the nephrologist (whom I see two days before Y”K) says no fasting at all (or, alternatively, says fasting is no problem). She also set me up for an "infusion" the day before, just so I’m well hydrated (since I won’t be able to take in much liquid on the “half-quantity” plan).

Continuing the “saga”: I saw my (GP) doctor early this week, and she was not happy with me. She said that when I get a bad test result like that, I should contact the clinic proactively, rather than waiting for them to contact me (and indeed, the clinic took its sweet time contacting me).

She told me I cannot fast on “Yom Kippur”, and have to instead eat “half quantities”, unless the nephrologist (who I see two days before Y”K) says no fasting at all (or, alternatively, says fasting is no problem). She also set me up for an "infusion" the day before, just so I’m well hydrated (since I won’t be able to take in much liquid on the “half-quantity” plan).

She also made me take another set of blood tests, whose results so far seem to indicate I’m returning to “normal”. In particular, the kidney function is trending that way. B”H!

A few things:

  • Uri went to Gaza so you don’t have to.
  • Both Italy and Spain are sending warships to “assist” the “Sumud Flotilla”, whose stated goal is to “break” the (legal) Israeli blockade of Gaza. I’m hopeful they will not cross into our territorial waters, as it would be a shame for them to lose valuable ships. Also: the “flotilla” retards could have walked here from Spain more quickly…
  • Then there’s the “Rise and Fall” of the “Abraham Accords”.
  • And Russian jets violate NATO airspace.

What, me worry?

During the first day of R”H, I was quietly reading when I heard what sounded like a radio playing “music”. I ignored it as best I could, but after three hours of it, I was getting ready to punch someone. I was convinced it was coming from my neighbors; but when I went outside, it turned out it was coming from a neighborhood a kilometer away. Loud enough that I could hear it behind closed doors, the bastards!

So the next day, I went to my neighbors to beg their forgiveness for having even considered they would be so rude. They thought it was funny, because they were also outraged at the noise. Some people need to be taught by the 2X4 method.

Between preparing for the two-day yom-tov, and recovering from it, we didn’t accomplish a great deal this week. However, I did manage to get my car’s “dash-cam” working again. It turns out the problem was the execrable “EACHPAI” software, which was never able to reconnect to the camera.

We also went to a wedding, which I wasn’t sure I was up to; but it was a fine event.

This shabbat, we’re once again going ‘simple’, since we’ve got quite a few leftovers. We’ll choose amongst:
homemade ḥalla, fish balls, baked chicken, brisket and tsimmis, baked eggplant with ṭeḥina, various salatim, apple cake, and honey cake.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom and gemar ḥatimah ṭovah!
