Therefore it is important to always remember that we are the children of Abraham our Patriarch, and to strive to bring the light of Torah into this world -- whether by deeds or by study -- and to influence the entire world for its betterment, and to pave the way for the coming of our righteous Mashiach, who will bring the world to its fulfillment. And I will bless them that bless thee, and him that curseth thee will I curse; and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed. (Gen 12:3)
During all the years of our bitter Exile, our various enemies cursed and degraded us with barely a pause. And as the years progressed, those same nations which degraded us, left this world behind and became "part of history". So with the Roman Empire, Pharaonic Egypt and all the rest -- they left this world.
Only the Jewish people, the descendants of Abraham our Patriarch, remained and continued bringing light into this world. Just as cockroaches are afraid of the light -- so the enemies of the Jewish people, when the light of Torah shines upon them, run for hiding places in fear and trepidation.
May he be revealed speedily in our days!
