The reason there's no ''devar torah'' this week is that I had to spend half the day fixing my daughter's computer (damned "Windows Vista"!) after it ceased booting suddenly after a "Windows Update".  Then I had to do a lot of cleaning, so I apologize -- not only is there not ''devar torah'' this week, but my blog will be abbreviated as well.

Last week I mentioned that our insurance company was arranging to have an electrician come and try to fix our problem.  The problem that we were told "may take months" to fix, since the water inside the electrical conduits has to dry up.  Guess what?  The electrician came, and within 30 minutes had the electricity back on to those rooms, and we didn't even have to pay for it (the insurance did)!  This coming week, they are sending out a painter to paint the damaged ceilings.  And to think I didn't consider calling the insurance company?!?

July 17th (sorry, no devar torah this week)

Hi again!

The reason there's no devar torah this week is that I had to spend half the day fixing my daughter's computer (damned "Windows Vista"!) after it ceased booting suddenly after a "Windows Update". Then I had to do a lot of cleaning, so I apologize -- not only is there not devar torah this week, but my blog will be abbreviated as well.

Probably the biggest news this week is the public desecration of God's name going on in Jerusalem. The rioting is still going on -- presumably they'll stop for shabbat. I don't know if their grievances are justified or not, but I do know that halachah forbids destroying other people's property, and also forbids attacking fellow Jews. And even allowing that it may be the particular police officers sent out were not observant Jews, halacha also includes the requirement we "judge others favorably" -- and that unless we know absolutely, we are to assume a fellow Jew is "ok".

Next week I'll bli neder start writing much earlier so I can talk about everything I wanted to. But for now, I still have more to do for shabbat -- so:

Until next week,
Shabbat shalom!
