Hi, again!
The pesaḥ holiday ended this Monday -- and we had one of the most relaxing times on record. Amazingly, even though we ate very well, none of us gained weight over the holiday! Friends of ours came over for the noon meal on the last day, and we made good use of the new barbecue. The weather was pleasant, and has become a little cooler and rainy now, though that's not going to last long.
Daniela spent her 'intermediate days' of the holiday with friends. On one of their more memorable outings, they visited the Mennonite Tabernacle Reproduction -- where she and her friends were most likely the only Jews (let alone religious ones). She also went to Baltimore, where she spent the holiday itself with her boyfriend's family. Not surprisingly, she liked them and apparently they liked her back, so life is good.
Going back to work was really difficult after a week of total relaxation. However, I reminded myself the reason I go to work (getting paid, that is), which made it far more palatable. Of course, it was a crazy half-week; but now it's shabbat again in a few hours, so life is very good.
Technical-dweeb information: the new release of Ubuntu (and kubuntu) was made yesterday (Apr 28th). I'm going through the process of upgrading my machines to it before I make any recommendations to others, so look for that next week. I have to upgrade my work machine, since we will absolutely need to support the latest version of the OS for our product.
Sundries:
- People who "don't want to be bothered" password-protecting their wireless networks really should think again
- Make sure you're redundantly backed up. Especially if you are using a 'Cloud' provider
- More really, really bad news for 'cloud' users
- I'm embarrassed to say I actually know one of the people behind Naked Israel. Do we really need this?
Sarah's friends are here for shabbat. On the ticket this time: teriyaki-sesame salmon, roast chicken, imam bayildi, beet salad, corn salad, carrot-ginger soup, brown rice pilaf, chickpea-curry stew
Until next week,
shabbat shalom!
