January 12th
This week Esther and I decided we would embark on a short vacation, since we’ve not had an actual vacation in a very long time. So we went off to Tel Aviv and stayed in a hotel on the waterfront for two days. Among other things, we walked from the hotel to the old city of Jaffa and back. That exercise helped offset the increased caloric intake we felt was a necessary part of our vacation experience.
It was a relaxing two days, not soon to be repeated.
Before leaving on the vacation, I had spent time fixing issues with 8th and preparing to make the new release once back. And indeed, after we returned I did make the new release. It just keeps getting better and better!
But now I have to prepare for my extended trip to the US. The hell of it is that I don’t know how long I’ll be there, there are just so many things I need to take care of. The only thing I know for sure is that I have to be back in Israel before pesaḥ; I refuse to be outside the Land on Passover! So to make that happen, I will have to be very effective and very busy. Please don’t take it personally if I’m slow in responding to you…
Once I booked my trip to the US, the charge for the flights appeared on my credit card (as expected). But a few days ago, the charge disappeared from my card; and I got concerned that perhaps there was a cancellation or something, so I checked with the airline. No problems on that end, the flights were still booked and the airline’s expecting me. So then I got excited, thinking, “wow! a free flight!”. But alas! today, the credit card shows the charge again. Bummer!
This shabbat Esther and I are invited out for a meal; for the rest, we’ll have:
baked chicken,
various salatim,
and chocolate-chip cookies.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
