Mazal tov, mazal tov!

A couple days ago, Daniela and Jeremy became the proud parents of twins — a boy and a girl! So Esther and I became double-grandparents, my mom a triple-great-grandmother, and Sarah an aunt! My mom and Sarah and I are jetting to the USA after shabbat, and will be there for a while. Exciting times!

I’m really looking forward to seeing my new grandchildren, and so is my mom.

Everything else pretty much pales by comparison. Mom and I ran a lot of errands, and spent some effort on getting tickets and making other travel arrangements. None of that was fun or interesting.

We celebrated the pilgrimage holiday of shavuot, by mostly staying in our home. A bit anticlimactic, but we were both tired and it was very hot. We did venture out to have a meal with neighbors who live close-by, and that was very pleasant; other than that, we stayed-put.

Since we need to leave for the airport pretty much right after shabbat is over, I’m going to do a minimal menu and try to aim for no leftovers. I’m also trying to get everything ready before shabbat so we don’t have to be in last-minute-packing-mode.

As you may surmise, this week it’s just Mom and me again. For shabbat, we’ll have a modest menu:
wine!, onion quiche, vegetable quiche, various salatim, and home-made ice-cream.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
