Esther’s gone off to have fun with her knitting friends, so I’m going to make this short so I can continue with food preparation.
Nothing very exciting happened this week as far was we’re concerned, B”H.
There were a number of security-related issues in my world:
- Kaspersky AV injected a unique ID which allowed third-parties to accurately track users
- Microsoft Windows update broke EMF files
- A very serious vulnerability in the Bluetooth protocol allows hackers access to sensitive data
- And “backdoor code” was uploaded to 11 Ruby libraries. That’s a fairly serious exploit, and it was in play for a couple months.
There was a lot going on in the political world, but I don’t have the energy today to delve into it. Next week, next week…
I’ve been working on issues raised by one of my users, and once again I’m shocked and embarrassed to say that a “feature” I had put in two years ago never actually worked. The good news is nobody noticed until now; but that’s also the bad news.
I’ll sign off for now so I can deal harshly with the bread dough.
This week while Esther’s gone off to have fun, I’m busy being the shabbat chef. We’ve got guests, and they and we will hopefully enjoy:
homemade ḥalla “a la Ron”,
indigenous Mediterranean chicken with olives and lemon,
B-flat baked yams,
yummy fried eggplant,
amazing Persian rice,
Turkish sumac onions,
cabbage salad orientale,
eclectic egg salad,
delectable lamb “Lancashire hot-pot” style stew,
standard smoked salmon,
some fine donated wine,
excellent donated brownies,
and refreshing fruit salad.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
