We worked, Sarah worked, Daniela worked. It was that kind of week. And it was also hot all week. It was really that kind of week.
Because of the incipient serious nationwide lockdown (even as the actual infection rate is in doubt and it remains unclear whether lockdowns actually help), we decided to visit Sarah. Who knows when we’ll get to do that again? Surely not our government!
The incredibly huge (yuuuge!) news of the week was the historic peace accords signed between Israel, the UAE, and Bahrain, and brokered by the US. Not everyone is happy about it, though. The Israeli far-Left "peace camp" calls it a "big fat fake peace deal". Because they detest Netanyahu. The mainstream media in the US says it will make war more likely. Because they despise Trump. The WH Press Secretary called them out on this. Nancy "gotta get my hair did" Pelosi made an awful statement about it, and an Israeli responds. And last but not least, Abbas throws tantrums and "cuts off" relations with the UAE (which has given the PA more than a billion dollars over the years). "Gratitude" isn’t in the PA vocabulary.
You know who’s really happy about the deal? Israel and Bahrain and the UAE. My "Twitter" feed is chock-full of UAE Arabs reaching out and making friends. For the first time, ever, Israeli Twitter was full of "Rosh HaShana" greetings and well-wishing from Arabs — and not just from the UAE, either.
The Middle East is turning a corner, and the "experts" are losing their minds over it. Because "Orange Man Bad".
Idiocy, and more:
- Beethoven’s music is, apparently, "predominantly a reminder of classical music’s history of exclusion and elitism". And here I just thought it was brilliant music.
- I stopped my "Scientific American" subscription a long time ago, because it’s not about science any more. Truly shameful!
- Do you remember that "Chinese virus"? Well, a Chinese research scientist claims she has proof that it was created in a Chinese military lab, and released on purpose. With the apparent goal of protecting the CCP, Facebook censored that story.
- The desperate Dems are working hard to rig the election, and it’s quite obvious as well.
- Slow Joe panders incessantly. This time Latinos are his target. It’s just as bad as Hillary’s "hot sauce", and not quite as bad as his "interview" with Cardi B.
- The Israeli flagship airline "El Al" has been purchased by a 27-year old yeshiva student. Really. Will the irritating mid-flight minyanim become an official part of the itinerary?
- A bit further afield, potential signs of life have been found on Venus. Depending on how the Venusians vote, we’ll be able to determine whether or not they’re an intelligent life-form.
I made a new release of 8th this week, so I won’t have to be bothered too much over the next couple weeks of our "holiday season". Mostly bug fixes. I also received the fancy new laptop, which is everything it’s meant to be. More on that next week, if I remember.
We’re starting the new Jewish year this evening, and are looking forward to praying at our neighbor’s patio. Should be an interesting time!
