Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore unto Abraham thy father (Gen 26:3)
Very similar to what He told Abraham, here He promises Isaac that his offspring will inherit the Land. This strengthens what He, may He be blessed, said earlier to Abraham: for in Isaac shall seed be called to thee (Gen 21:12) -- in Isaac, and not in Ishmael. No such statement was ever made to Ishmael, so he has not the slightest claim to the Land, not even to a single stone of it. His children dwelt from Havilah unto Shur that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Asshur: over against all his brethren he did settle (Gen 25:18). They had no inheritance, neither in the Holy Land nor in any other land.
He, may His Name be blessed, promised Isaac that He would bless him and guard him. But this was conditional: go not down unto Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of (Gen 26:2). The Land is given to your offspring, but you acquire it by the act of holding onto it. Do not leave it, even for lack of food -- because the Land is the inheritance of your inheritors.
Isaac was permanently affixed in the Land, and did not leave it even in death. We must be like him, affixed in the Land. Like humble foundation stones which are the base of the spectacular building built above them. May it be His will to raise up David's fallen booth, and that we be the foundation of His building.
