Sep 28th -- Sorry, no devar-torah this week.
Hi, again!
B"H! The holiday of rosh hashana (the new year) is starting tonight. It's the only time in the year when we in Israel celebrate the same number of days as our friends in the Diaspora -- two days for everyone! So it's going to be a long "weekend", which is why I'm publishing the "blog" today.
Preparing for the three-day event has taken most of our physical and mental energies this past week, so there's not a lot else to report. We are all excited to have time off, and delicious food, and pleasant company. We would like to wish our friends, family, the entire Jewish nation and the world at large, a peaceful and prosperous new year!
One of Sarah's friends will be staying with us over the holiday weekend, and we'll also have guests for the first two nights. On the menu: ḥallah, ḥallah, ḥallah and rolls!
1st night/day: carrot salad, beet salad, pomegranates, dates, leeks, apples and honey, squash, whole baked denis (sea bream), lamb rollada, baked chicken, carrot kugel, green beans, roasted yams, meatballs, rice, honey cake, apple cake.
2nd night/day: brisket, tsimmes, potato salad, matsa-ball soup, baked salmon, salad with feta cheese, (and leftovers from day before)
shabbat: roast chicken, roasted peppers, salatim (and leftovers from the previous days).
B"H! Sunday is a fast day!!
Until next week,
shabbat shalom,
and shana tova umetuqa
and gemar ḥatima tova!
