חודש טוב!

The Hebrew month of “’adar” just started. A time when, according to our Sages, we are to “increase happiness”, leading up to the Purim holiday in two weeks. So we’ll have an extra cup of wine this shabbat, to help get us in the proper mind-set.

Mom’s slowly getting accustomed to her new environment. We decided we’d go out one day this week, so we took her to our local falafel place. While my wife and I both had “complete” falafels (e.g. with all the additions), we figured that would be too extreme for mom. She got the “basic” version, just the falafel and salad in a half-pita. She survived the experience, we’re happy to say, and probably won’t object to having falafel again sometime down the line.

I spent more time working on getting paying work, and on making updates and fixes to 8th in preparation for the upcoming release. I’m still easing into getting on a normal schedule, but life is interfering. Some of my users have contributed interesting sample code in 8th, so the next release will incorporate some of that as well.

Esther’s been working hard as usual, taking on the burden of the entire US tax preparation portion of her boss’s business. She’s a good lass, but her patience is wearing thin.

Sarah was sick this week, so we wish her a רפואה שלימה (complete recovery). So too was Jeremy, and we wish him likewise. What is it with young people these days? Daniela, however, is doing quite well, thank you.

Political jive:

So far this year, February temperatures in Jerusalem have averaged almost 5C higher than the historical average. Not to worry, though: this week has been mostly below-average, and Sat/Sun is going to be well below average, and rainy as well. Crazy weather! Right now we can’t see across the wadi to the Jerusalem hills.

This shabbat we’ve got some more guests, and Esther is preparing:
homemade ḥalla, vegetable soup, braised chicken thighs, brisket, potato kugel, snow peas with mushrooms, sticky chicken wings, various salatim, and brownies.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom and ḥodesh tov!
