Apr 5th

I really don’t have a lot to report for this past week, since it was the “intermediate days of pesaḥ”, and we didn’t do a whole lot of anything but relax and eat.

The reason I’m writing this on Thursday rather than Friday, is because Friday is the last day of pesaḥ; and, it being a holiday, I can’t write then. So now you know.

We did visit my nephew and his little family one day. Mom thinks her great-grandson is the cutest thing ever. Makes me feel like a discarded old rag, now that I’m not cute anymore. <snif>

In the end, Sarah did join us for pesaḥ; but she was feeling ill, so I went to Ramat Gan to pick her up. So in reality, I joined her to us, so to speak. Thank you, she’s better now (and was glad we sucked her into our seder vortex).

The seder was pleasant and relaxed, as always. We had our usual guests (minus Daniela and Jeremy, since she’s on the “disabled list” for another month or so), and everyone had a good time. Or, at least, nobody complained that they had a bad time. I’ll accept that.

In any event, we’re trying to get geared-up physically and emotionally for the upcoming twofer: 7th day of pesaḥ followed by shabbat. Even though it’s fine to cook on the holiday (as opposed to on shabbat), Esther hates cooking on the holidays, preferring to relax if possible. I understand, but it means the day-before is pretty busy with preparations; and this time, for two days!

The weather’s been very pleasant, and it’s supposed to continue in that pattern for the near future.

We’re all alone for the holiday, but we’ve got guests for shabbat. On the menu:
homemade soft maṣoth (enriched!), and the commercial hard kind, brisket, kefta de prasa, baked chicken, baked salmon, chopped liver, egg salad, tuna salad, various salatim, and ice cream.

Until next time,
ḥag sameaḥ and shabbat shalom!

And don’t forget to make an “ʿeruv tavshilin”!
