Continuing the family-expansion saga from last week…

… Mom, Sarah, and I landed in NY on Sunday and made our way to Daniela and Jeremy’s home. The babies and their mother were still in the hospital. Esther and Jeremy were preparing the home for the new additions. We travelers were mostly uselessly tired.

After a couple days, the new additions came home; Daniela had come home a bit before. Wednesday there was a combined “baby naming and bris”, where the girl was publicly named for the first time, and the boy underwent the brit-milah (covenant of circumcision) and was also publicly named. Without further ado, I would like to introduce the newly-named children: Naomi Aviva (נעמי אביבה) and Gavriel Yehoshua (גבריאל יהושע)!

It seems like Gavriel is a typical male: he eats voraciously and then falls asleep. And his sister Naomi seems like a typical female: she looks around all the time trying to see what’s going on. I might add: they’re very cute.

Mother and children are all doing well; starting to get into a schedule. Father seems more frazzled than the mother, for now.

Esther’s mother came in from Argentina, so now we’ve got two grandparents and two great-grandparents in the house, not to mention an aunt. Lots of helpers, hopefully our help is helpful!

My mom decided to take a mini-vacation for a day and a half, spending time in the local hospital. B”H, nothing serious, and she seems to be fine. Also B”H, we didn’t get rid of her Medicare extra insurance, since she actually did need to use it.

As for me? I did man-stuff: fixing doors, and assembling things, and asking when dinner was going to show up. You know, the usual.

The whole family will be spending shabbat together. As to the menu:
I have no freakin’ idea what we’re going to have, and that’s the truth!

Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
