First off, wishing a complete and speedy recovery to Yarin, who’s come down with the flu. Hopefully Sarah won’t also get it.
After cleaning out the “garage”, we had quite a bit of stuff that either we hadn’t used in 30 years, or had decided we wouldn’t use in the next 30. So I put a message up on a local Facebook page letting people know we had a number of items up for grabs. I didn’t expect that our crap would be picked up so quickly! Within a couple days, most items were gone, including old Nintendo game cartridges. I guess “one man’s garbage…” is a real thing!
Then we decided to acquire some more plants for our garden. Some of the ones from last year didn’t pull through, so it was a necessary thing. The next day we spent two and half hours getting them into the ground and/or pots, and cleaning things up.
I need the shabbat rest this week!
Things that may have escaped your notice:
- #FUJB, sincerely. The White House opens an investigation into an Israeli company which just happens to make critical components of our defensive “Iron Dome”.
- The same meddling dolts urge programmers to “dump C and C++”. I think I’ll pass; been programming in C for almost 40 years, I know how to not shoot myself. Is it any wonder the Italians are mocking the Vegetable In Chief?
- Tucker Carlson discovers poor people. I mean, we’ve had those “pay-to-release” carts forever.
- Hillel Fuld on some of the truly insane things people report from Gaza.
- Aharon Haliva has to go, now. But this is only the first of many who need to be deposed here in IL.
- Bad news for “quantum computing”, and accurate predictions “don’t matter”.
- On being “done” with Google.
In preparation for releasing my new, improved!, version of the “zemanim” app, I discovered that 8th wasn’t working on Android. I guess my customer who uses Android a lot has been on vacation, because I didn’t get any complaints from him. Anyway, I invested most of two days hunting down the issues (there were more than one, sadly) and making improvements for the next release of 8th, as well. Next week is hopefully “release week” for both products.
The weather was once again pleasant, and it should be somewhat warm on shabbat but cooling off afterwards. Such is “spring” here.
Our shabbat table appears to include:
homemade pita,
orange soup,
turkey shawarma,
homemade ḥummus,
various pickled items,
various salatim,
and marble cake.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
