You‘re getting this-missive early, because the holiday of sukkoth is on Friday, so don‘t be dis-missive!
We went out with my cousins one evening to a place we‘d wanted to try. While we had a good visit with them, I wasn‘t particularly impressed by the place. Alas, such is life!
Apart from the usual, we did some gardening. I finally broke down and got an electric “hedge trimmer”— and I don‘t honestly know why I‘ve been doing without one all these years. It certainly saves the wear and tear on my joints! But of course, now I have more trimmings to clear.
Various:
- The mayor of NYC marked “Nakba Day” by highlighting an actual European settler who‘s whiter than I am. But then, Mamdani‘s not very bright.
- It seems they‘ll say just any ol‘ thing about Israel!
- Preston‘s takes: Cuban drones and growing calls to go all-in on Iran.
- Iran sends a drone to attack the UAE‘s Barakah nuclear plant. It‘s a bold strategy, Cotton…
- Food/history buffs: bread on a stick.
- Language buffs: English has no future!
The friendly Turks sponsored the latest “aid flotilla” to Gaza, which was intercepted by our forces. The ever politically-correct Ben Gvir caused a “diplomatic storm” by harassing the terrorist scum, erm, “activists”. While his actions were undoubtedly not PC, and he is most definitely a polarizing figure, were I in charge, I would have torpedoed all those boats and let the activists sink or swim. We‘ve been entirely too gentle with them, and by acting so “civilized” we only encourage more of the same.
And don‘t even get me started on what I think should be done with the Israelis who — for a mere pittance — engage in spying for Iran!
This yom-ṭov and shabbat we‘re out for one meal; for the rest, we‘ve lined up:
homemade ḥallah,
ñoquis con salsa blanca y queso al horno,
“Mexican” chicken,
tira de asado,
baked potatoes,
coleslaw,
various salatim,
and cheesecake-ice-cream.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom and ḥag sameaḥ!
