Feb 7thsorry, no devar torah today

Hi, again!

We were busy (surprise!) all week: Sarah completed her last week of school for this semester, so she’s happier and calmer, and so are we. At work we reached all our goals and were treated to a “team lunch”. I sent out the RC1 release of 8th to my beta-testers, and we met with our business strategy advisor.

There isn’t really too much for me to talk about this week, and I’m really tired and have to get prepared for shabbat — so I’ll make it short.

As I mentioned, we reached our goals at work. The software we’ve been working on was put up for an “official test”, at a laboratory in the USA. The guy in charge of the testing, a nice fellow from India, told us “it is impossible to get better than 5 microseconds, don’t even try”. So when he tested and we measured in at 4.5 microseconds, he was duly impressed. One of the guys on our team told him, “don’t tell an Israeli that something’s impossible…”. Heh. So our development team scored a nice lunch on the company’s bill — first time that’s happened at this place.

Esther and I had our first official meeting with our business advisor this week. In fact it was with the actual advisor (whom we had not yet met), as well as my former boss who is a partner in the company. Anyway, they told us to research existing patents which may impinge on our technology, and whether we have any technology we could patent. And they told us to “shut up” for now about our product. So consider us shutted-up, and you’ll hear more when we can say more. We’ll be meeting with the advisor once a week for the next five months, so it should be an interesting ride.

The weather has been pleasant and pretty cold; it’s supposed to warm up gradually but still remain seasonable. No rain in the near future, as far as they can tell, which makes this a pretty dry winter so far. We’ve got until pesaḥ

I need to start cleaning for shabbat, so I’ll say “bye for now” and hopefully I’ll have more to say next week!

Two of Sarah’s friends, Dinah and RivQua will be staying with us this week. We’ll treat them to:
roast beef, barbecued chicken, barbecued tofu, salatim, butternut-squash soup, cauliflower kugel, stuffed mushrooms, rice pilaf and strawberries and cream.

Until next week,
shabbat shalom!
