Don’t worry, I’ll go light on the politics this week. Just a few items you may have missed: US spied on Israel; “How to raise a little jihadist”; Yes, it’s all due to the “occupation”; MSNBC is the white version of al-Jazeera. OK, that’ll do for now.

Good news! After a couple of months, liters-worth of blood-tests, urine and various other samples, ultrasound and CT scans, cardiac stress-tests and more — I had my consultations with specialists this week. Specifically, with a hematologist and a hepatologist. The upshot is: there’s nothing, absolutely nothing, wrong with my gizzards. On the other hand, it is confirmed that I’m special: I have a double inferior vena cava. That’s something you would only find out on a CT (or during surgery), and it has no repercussions. Just kind of there, you know? Anyway, I (and my family) are much relieved that nothing dire was found. However, it begs the question: why do I have that persistent pain?

So my regular doctor reviewed all the expert’s findings and their recommendations, and decided to send me for an endoscopy to take a look-see inside and determine if there’s something out of sorts in my esophagus or stomach. That’s scheduled for next week, so the next blog will probably have an update on that. I don’t actually anticipate anything being found, really; as my loving wife says, “just snap out of it!”

The aforementioned loving wife resumed a normal schedule at work, much to her relief and ours. Sarah also resumed a sort of a normal schedule, this being the first week of school for her (and the beginning of her last year at that school).

And I was really busy this week. There was a meeting with a possible client on Sunday, and we reached a verbal agreement, though it’s not finalized yet. B”H, next week… The survey I sent out produced some very interesting feedback, and I’ve been working on new features and improvements to 8th in light of that feedback (as well as prior requests etc. from users). In a couple more weeks we’ll release a new version of 8th, and also hopefully at least one app which may start bringing in some money. Additionally, one of my former consultants has two different deals in the works which may come to fruition in the next month or so; so there’s definitely interesting activity going on.

We’re pretty worn out this week from all the running back and forth and the “situation”. So we are definitely looking forward to a calm and calming shabbat, with nothing more to do than eat, sleep and pray.

The weather’s been warm but not too warm; however, it will be hot over shabbat and then, presumably, cool and rainy beginning Sunday. We’ll see…

Dinah will be gracing our home with her presence this shabbat! On this week’s menu:
veggie soup, baked chicken, beet salad, carrot salad, roasted eggplant, fennel salad, butternut squash purée, roasted veggies, veggie cholent, rice, fruit, and various cakes.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
