March 24th
I really don’t have much to say this week. I know, you can scarcely believe it (or contain your glee). Nevertheless, it was a pretty nondescript week for us.
Thanks to Esther, I did come up with a source for proper flour for making matza, so hopefully this week I’ll take care of that. In the meantime, some practice is in order.
We changed the clocks early this morning (02:00) so now we’re back in synch with our families and friends in the Exile.
The weather was cloudy and somewhat cold this week, but it appears that’s over.
One of my contracts seems to have run its course this week. I’m not actually sure about that, since the client rarely responds to emails; and when he does, he’s often not responsive to the questions asked. What I don’t know at this point is whether or not that client will be continuing the project with me — that seems to depend on whether or not they’ll have enough of a budget to pay me to do all the things they want done.
In an ironic twist, the recent spate of anti-Semitic threats in the USA was found to be attributed to an Israeli Jew and not “hate groups”. One wonders what that guy’s motivation was, not that it matters much. However, I do think that we will experience a hard freeze in the netherworld before the Trump-bashers apologize for having immediately jumped on the “blame Trump for anti-Semitism” wagon.
Y’all gotta calm down, people!
Jew Haiku:
You think you know the
Motivations of others
What are yours? Know them!
Sarah’s been waging a delaying action against a cold, while simultaneously battling the desire to punch her boss. This particular boss is the third one she’s had in under five months. Now she’s in the odd position of knowing more about the store’s policies and procedures than her actual manager does. Hopefully the situation there will improve!
As for us, we’ve been working as usual — nothing exciting to report. I’m working on getting some more contracts in the queue, but with pesaḥ coming I’m not being too energetic about it.
Chaim was in the football semi-finals yesterday, and we dropped in to show the flag. It wasn’t flag-football, just FYI. He played offense, defense, no-offense, and on-the-fence. I think he could have been an entire team, if they’d only let him. I suspect it’s the beard that grants him his awesome sports-powers. To my shame, mine doesn’t seem to work that way.
This shabbat the Thrifty Three are going it alone. We’ll have:
holy meatloaf,
divine egg salad,
sainted tuna salad,
transcendental quiches,
lots of pontificating potatoes,
various glorious salatim,
and the eponymous “just cake” of justice.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
