September 29th
So we had a busy week. No surprises there. Esther worked furiously (or perhaps was furious at having to work) getting her clients’ taxes done. I worked furiously trying to do development, and get work, and make more contacts. We were both furiously trying to get ready for the upcoming yom hakippurim which is coincident this year with shabbat. Much sound and fury, signifying nothing.
One outcome of the discussions with a “major company” I mentioned in prior episodes of this blog is that they asked me to become one of their “Community Partners” and publish content on their site. So this week I published my first blog post on their site; a site with many, many times more subscribers than my forum. The idea is to get people exposed to 8th and hopefully draw them in. This is just the first of the items we discussed, and I’m surprised and delighted with how quickly they moved.
Various points of interest:
- Germany’s controversial elections. The Left goes crazy (as usual) without considering what the real causes are.
- “Antifa” exposed for the violent extremists they are.
- The NY Times is still staffed by “useful idiots”.
- The NFL: Numbskull Freaking Losers. But really, isn’t there anything more newsworthy than spoiled millionaires “taking the knee”?
- The Religion of Apple. One of which I do not partake.
There’s a new “Star Trek” series, “Star Trek Discovery” (with the quite appropriate initials “STD”). I’m a big fan of science-fiction, so I watched it with rather low expectations, given the lackluster character of the previous editions. But I’ve got to say that this new series is surpassingly terrible. Rank, pathetic, and virtually unwatchable. Just say no! STD is why we can’t have nice things.
The weather has turned fall-like (for the Middle East): cold in the morning, hot in the afternoon, cool at night. We even have a “chance of drizzle” over shabbat (!). We look forward to cool weather during the 25-hour fast!
Since this shabbat is also yom hakippurim, our fare will consist of:
rest, fasting, and prayer (our pre-fast fare will consist mainly of puchero de pollo as per our personal tradition).
Until next time,
gemar ḥatima ṭova and shabbat shalom!
