We were both busy with work (though I’m now officially retired, I still “do stuff”). In my case, I spent a goodly portion of time integrating Paypal and Stripe interfaces with 8th so I can get rid of PHP on my server’s back-end. I really hate PHP.
The Paypal integration was straightforward, their documentation was acceptably useful. Stripe’s, on the other hand, took a very long time for me to finally grok. It was actually a lot simpler than Paypal, but their documentation… well, it’s voluminous.
You did want to know, didn’t you?
Gabe participated in his first ever chess-tournament. He took first-place, winning four games out of four, earning him a trophy almost as tall as he is! When he came home, he wanted to play more chess, so Naomi was his opponent. She likes chess, but isn’t as dedicated to it as he is. He’s a bit intense, to put it mildly.
Various things:
- Mallen: The EU farmers’ backlash, and two food revolutions.
- My friend’s take on theatres of war and of theatre. That’s “theater” for the rest of us.
- A thread: there are only losers in this war with Hamas.
- Hamas manipulating casualty figures in Gaza. Gee, ya think?
- Musk teaming with Gina Carano to sue Disney. She has a decent case; I hope she gets a massive settlement.
- And ¡Viva Argentina! President Milei visited IL this week. I’m liking this guy more the more I hear about him.
Because weeds never cease, we spent an hour and a half weeding the front area garden. Now I’m in significant pain, but “this, too, shall pass”! At least, I hope so.
The weather gradually warmed, the rain ceased, and we’re looking for a cool and maybe moist shabbat this time around. Unsettled weather into the week, maybe getting rain mid-week. As always, “we’ll see”…
Our biweekly “farm-fresh” delivery was heavy on the cruciferous vegetables. Brussels sprouts filled the fridge, cabbages, oh my! So this shabbat’s meals contain:
homemade ḥalla,
sweet potato soup,
kebabs,
rice,
roasted Brussels sprouts,
roasted turnips,
various salatim,
boios de acelga,
and brownies.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom and ḥodesh ṭov!
