We started the week by donating blood; our own, in case you were wondering. Based on our previous experience in mid-October, we thought there would be a lot of people, and a lot of “stations”. Neither was true; possibly because we went in the afternoon when most people were likely working.

I foolishly told the person doing intake that I was taking pain meds for my right shoulder, so he forbade me to have blood taken from that arm. That’s the arm with the big juicy veins, the one I always have them puncture. So I ended up having a painful core-sample taken of my poor left arm. That was fun!

Later in the week we visited with our mechutanim (Jeremy’s parents), who are here visiting family. We went to Tel Aviv, had a nice meal and a pleasant visit, confirming with them that our grand kids are the very best, and who wouldn’t love them?!? We also got several days’ exercise, walking from the shuttle drop-off to the restaurant. We hope the rest of their visit is as pleasant as the first part was, and that we see them again when we visit Daniela et. fam. later this year.

Amongst the rubble:

I finally made a release of 8th. It took quite a while, because I tore-down and then rebuilt its innards so that it would (presumably) work nicely on Apple’s crappy iOS operating system. I managed to get it working well enough to feel making a release was reasonable, but for one small thing…

… I can’t actually test on iOS, because Apple won’t let me upload my test program. Why, you ask? Because they claim I’m using an “unsupported version” of their compiler. But… I’m using their latest version! So I’ve got a tech-support request in, and it’s been four days so far and counting, just waiting for a response. Apple really sucks.

Esther claims I did “too much” this week, what with gardening and other assorted stuff. Which is why, so she says, my arm hurts. She may be right, but what can I do? Things need doing — it’s elul, baby!

The weather was quite pleasant this week, summer is slowly winding-down!

This shabbat our menu includes:
pita, rib roast, "orange soup", smashed potatoes, various salatim, and ice-cream.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
