This week we did a "grandparents reading" at the Grands' school. Each twin invited a couple friends to have lunch and listen to us reading books. The kids were actually very attentive and polite, so it was a pleasant experience for everyone. Then, we visited Jojo's class and read to that group — also very good listeners, and it was fun for everyone.
We picked up the ceramic “art” we had done two weeks ago. Esther’s got messed up in the kiln, unfortunately, so we didn’t retrieve it. Mine turned out ok, so we’ll have this sign on our entryway soon!
Everyone’s been anticipating a US strike on Iran, as El Donaldo promised, then recanted, then hinted at, then backed off from, then… who even knows? I do know that many airlines have canceled flights to Israel even before anything whatsoever ensued, which is why I always, ALWAYS, fly El Al. I also know that the uncertainty about what is happening or might happen, is not good for anyone, in particular my stomach.
Of note:
- Preston Stewart on Iran’s unprecedented crackdown.
- The Saudi Pivot.
- Your Welcome (Michael Malice) interviews James Lindsay.
- And… antisemitism showing up across Europe, and New Jersey, and NYC. What, me worry?
We met up with cousins: this time, Esther’s! A person she’s been trying to place in the family tree agreed to meet us, along with her mother. Turns out, her mother had very clear recollections of Esther’s mother as well as her grandfather and various other family members. So it was interesting and productive, and we enjoyed meeting them.
The weather is scheduled to snow a bit on shabbat. Daniela and family (and we) are invited out for a lunch, but I am quite uninterested in lunching at someone’s house when I neither know them at all, nor have any desire to. If you know me, you’ll understand…
Assuming no hostilities keep us here, we expect to be back in the Land next shabbat.
This shabbat we’re still at Daniela’s, and hope to enjoy:
homemade ḥalla,
chicken soup,
rice,
chicken picatta,
and black-and-white cookies.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
