You’d think that, what with the getting up and down and going to the shelter periodically, we’d be getting in great shape! Sadly, this exercise program isn’t working out that well for us; 3/10 would not recommend.

We did more work in the garden, finally clearing out that elusive corner which, though Esther’s mentioned it to me many times, has managed to evade my notice until this week. Several trips to the Dumpster later, it looks much the same as before, only somewhat less so. And so it goes.

Regarding my ongoing “power supply” project, there’s now a sub-project: an “inductance meter”. The reason for that is… well, never mind. Suffice it to say I needed one, and so prevailed upon ChatGPT to work up plans using components I’ve got. It proceeded to give me an Arduino Sketch which seems to work perfectly “out of the box”, nice! But then, the “oscillator” hardware it designed didn’t work at all. It took me some time to realize that it had chosen incorrect pins on the chip I was using; when I informed it of that, it apologized profusely and admitted it was wrong, and then gave me a corrected version (which does work).

Once again: AI tools are only truly useful if you know what you’re about and have patience to correct them.

Around and around:

We’ve taken to playing a new game: “Missile, Interceptor, or Thunder?”. Usually once an alert has been received, some minutes later we’ll hear a loud boom, or sometimes a low rumble, and other times an extended one. But since we’re also having a rain storm now, thunder does also occur naturally. It keeps us on our toes.

I’ve had several of my “8th” customers email me asking if we’re ok, and quite a few family members have done so as well. But not one of the folks I was business partners with for many years have bothered. Makes you aware of who your friends actually are. SAD!

It’s supposed to be rainy and cold for shabbat; we’ll most likely remain at home, especially since our Persian foes have not yet seen fit to cease and desist! Last night they gave us several gifts in the space of two hours, so we’re a bit groggy this morning.

This shabbat we’ll try once again to eat in peace, meals consisting (at least) of:
homemade ḥalla, chicken and rice, roasted eggplant, various salatim, and apple cake.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
