It‘s been said “you don‘t hate the mainstream-media enough”, and this week‘s proven that assertion to be quite true. The New York Times (once upon a time a trusted newspaper) published this scurrilous piece of crap (referring to the author, as well as his article; I like to make words do double-duty). The reactions have been rather pointed as well as furious. The story was apparently released in order to deflect from the release of a new report about Oct 7th. But it should be pointed out that the steaming pile of yellow-journalism known as the NYT has published absolute lies about Israel more than once since October 7th 2023.
To wit:
- The headline story of 500 dead in an airstrike on Ahli Arab hospital on October 17, 2023. There was no Israeli airstrike. There was a defective Palestinian Islamic Jihad artillery rocket – meant for Israeli civilians – that went off-course and hit the hospital parking lot, killing 0-50 people. The NYT even used a false photo – of a completely different area – to back up the wildly false headline with an image of destruction.
- A bizarre story alleging that IDF soldiers were shooting young Gazan children in the head, citing fake medical scans. The "scans" showed an intact bullet perfectly centered in a child's head with no entry wound, no bone fragments – just an unfragmented rifle round magically resting peacefully dead center in the brain...
- Photos of purportedly starving Gazan children, with strangely well-fed mothers. The children had medical conditions like cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy, which the NYT did not disclose.
- This week's magic rape dogs (despite ample scientific evidence that canines cannot be trained to rape unwilling participants; sorry you had to read that).
If you still subscribe to that POS, there‘s no better time than the present to cancel your subscription. May the name of evildoers rot.
Well, there‘s other things:
- Israel may very well be heading toward early elections, since the Haredi parties got in a snit and left the government.
- The tape that just ended Mahmoud Abbas, and Hamas operatives are being trained in Turkey to launch attacks against Israel. Why is Turkey still in NATO, and why are US nukes still housed there?
- Zineb Riboua: Iran‘s economy is collapsing; and Trump‘s Iran card.
- Y‘all getting all hot and bothered about “hantavirus” don‘t need to be; unless, that is, you‘re going about sniffing dried rat excrement—then you should be concerned (and not only about the virus). Along the same lines, the Covid decision tree.
- And microplastics: well, it turns out lab gloves may cause overestimation of their prevalence. By quite a lot, it turns out. So cool your jets, people!
- History buffs: Belgium‘s plans to invade the Netherlands after WWI.
- Language buffs: the ancient logic of “snuck”.
- Foodies: Lemon-thyme chicken and potatoes (for us kosher consumers: omit the butter…)
We‘ve been busy as usual this week. I‘ve been doing a lot of editing as well as coding, so nothing new. Esther‘s been battling with gov‘t agencies. So, nothing new. And Yarin landed a new job, so congratulations, laddie!
It used to be that every time we had to write a greeting card in Hebrew, Esther would prevail upon me to come up with the text and write it. But this week she asked me to do that, and I told her to use ChatGPT; she did just that, and it came out exactly in the way-over-the-top florid Israeli style! I‘m free at last, FREE AT LAST!
The weather for shabbat is going to be cooler than last week, but it‘s been quite warm (>33C) the past few days, so we‘re not going to celebrate the coolness just yet.
This shabbat our meals include:
homemade ḥallah,
chicken,
rice,
leek soup,
green beans,
roasted veggies,
various salatim,
and brownies.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
