If you made aliyah less than a year ago but more than six months ago, you can apply for unemployment benefits at the Misrad Haklita.

Otherwise, you need to:

  1. Go to your local "misrad hata`asuka" (there's one here in M"A in the basement of the mall) with the letter from your employer.
  2. Afterwards, go to the Bituach Leumi (there's one here in M"A, close to the Paz station, but it's only open Wednesdays) and file for benefits.

I don't know for sure yet, but I have been told that you need:

  1. Letter from your employer stating you've been "let go"
  2. Copies of your last 12-18 pay-stubs ("telushim")
  3. If you have a degree, an Israeli certified copy of the degree
