Hi, again!

It was the best of weeks, it was the worst of weeks. That may be just a little bit hyperbolic, but it sounds better than "we had an OK week".

Sarah finished her stint of "National Service", Thursday being her Very Last Day of Work. So by definition, she had an excellent week even if she had a lot of frustrating work to do. To top things off, one of her best friends came from the Olde Country and will be staying with us over shabbat (at least).

To provide a counterweight to her sister, Daniela started work this week. She has, so far, had a very good time of it. We're looking forward to hearing how she manages to hold onto her sanity while dealing with a lot of small children simultaneously. It's not something I would ever have expected her to choose as a profession, but we do wish her success!

I managed to accidentally mess up my ronware.org server (though clearly it's working now). It was a simple enough mistake -- I didn't pay attention to the fact I was "logged in" to my server, and then proceeded to perform an "upgrade" which was intended for my laptop. That seriously screwed up the server, and took the better part of a day to fix. That is why the "devar torah" email was only sent this morning even though I finished it last night. Now you know. caveat system administrator...

Esther informed her boss that she was sick and tired of work, and didn't want to go back to it. He begged her to stay, telling her she could work from home. I just want her to be happy, since as long as she keeps making amazing things like the "fish tacos with cilantro crema" she made this week, I'm happy.

What else can I tell you? My knee still hurts. Esther's back hurts. Neither of us has energy to spare, and we have but two weeks until rosh hashanah. We are sorely unprepared. But B"H, it's all good! We'll drink enough wine to temporarily get rid of the pains, so we can enjoy shabbat. Blessed is He Who created the fruit of the vine, amen!

Things of note:

One of Sarah's closest friends is staying with us this shabbat. She's here for a year and will be attending a culinary school/seminary in Jerusalem. We'll feed her: barbecued chicken leg quarters, lamb chops, potato salad, coleslaw, roasted eggplant with ṭeḥina, blasted peppers, slow-cooked roast, huevos haminados, salatim, and chocolate-peanut butter brownies.

Until next week,
shabbat shalom!
