Hi, again!

This week the work load was crazy, but satisfying in the end. Sarah continued her hard work of putting together her semester projects and finished them. She also acted as "assistant director" for classmates' projects, so she's getting lots of experience. Daniela and Jeremy are doing well, and will be spending shabbat at a friend's place.

Esther went on a few outings this week. One day she went to the Kotel. Another day she went to a friend's son's "tekes maslul", the ceremony denoting the completion of advanced basic-training in the IDF. She gets out more than I do...

I spent most of a day trying to figure out a long-standing "bug" in our product at work, and finally figured out the root cause. That was a Good Thing, and made my various bosses happy. Then I also spent a lot of effort trying to figure out a rather obscure bug in my zemanim application, which only manifests itself on certain versions and Android with certain devices. I figured it out, which was another Good Thing, and made my customers happy.

This week too, Obama delivered his State of the Union address. Long on verbiage and short on content. The current Pope announced his resignation, the first time a Pope has quit office in the past 600 years. Can we convince Obama to follow the precedent? He does think he's God, after all. Here's an interesting and inspirational speech from the National Prayer Breakfast this year, given by Dr. Benjamin Carson -- who, I think, would agree with my retirement plans for the current occupant of the White House.

Well, I tarried too long this morning, I need to get busy getting ready for shabbat -- cleaning the house and so forth. So I'll try to say more next week.

This shabbat we will have two of Sarah's friends staying with us. Better make a lot of food! Here's the plan: butternut-squash soup, schnitzel, mashed potatoes, green beans, salatim, tortilla de acelga, stewed chicken, rice, and brownies.

Until next week,
shabbat shalom!
