Hi, again!

A smoothly running week here on the outskirts of the Judean Desert, B"H! Some medical things, some work things and the true commencement of summer.

I had my periodic blood-workup done, things look pretty good (so the Dr. says). But my knee is still a pain, ever since a kind young lady on the bus knocked my knee with hers. So the Dr. gave me pain medication (which was ineffective), and I went to the pharmacy and asked if they had any knee-braces which would be helpful. The pharmacist said they did, and I walked out with a brand-new elastic knee-brace. But had I looked at the label first, I might not have bought it. Turns out the label was accurate. However, the knee is calming down now and I hope to be pain-free in a few weeks. If not, I can at least lay in a good supply of arak, for medicinal purposes.

I was surprised one day this week, when I came into my office and saw writing on the wall. No, this wasn't like Daniel the prophet's writing. But rather one of my coworkers wrote a very nice compliment to me on the frosted window of the wall. Several times this week I got complimented; so now I'm getting worried.

The Powers of the World continue to interfere in Israel's business. This week the redoubtable Kerry proposed an aid plan for the Fakestinians. Four billion dollars. That's a lot of money to toss in the oubliette, even for the US of A. Then apparently the US is angry that we are building in Jerusalem. Well guess what? We're angry that the US is building in Washington D.C., so there! Really: is there really anyone of above-moron-intelligence who thinks that Israelis building an apartment in Jerusalem is a root cause of Arab displeasure? And even if it were, why not counsel the Arabs to get over themselves? Soon enough, their oil weapon will be blunted (whether by the depletion of their oil fields, or the discovery of others outside their realms). Soon enough, they will either have to become productive humans or languish.

I'm fighting off a cold; the main part of it is over, I hope the shabbat will be a restful one! I'm really, really looking forward to a nice shabbat!

This week one of my cousins and her family will be staying with us. We hope they enjoy:
stuffed grape leaves, chicken schnitzel, baked drumsticks, rice, bamia (okra), salatim, traditional cholent, birthday-cake, fruit and date-nut cake

Until next week,
shabbat shalom!
