It’s another week without Esther. She’s been in Argentina all week and half the previous one, and we are anxious for her return this coming Monday, B”H! At least she’s enjoying being with her family. We struggled on pitifully without her…

Sarah was mostly working on various projects. She sends her regards, but is busily editing films.

We celebrated Israel’s 68th birthday this week. Since Esther wasn’t here, we didn’t go to see the fireworks. I’m sure they were as impressive as always. But we could hear them, which has to count for something.

I was extremely busy this week working towards “embedded-8th”. My “EE” (electronics engineer) received the prototype hardware; here’s a picture (he assembled the board himself; the final product will be more tidy). He’s currently running tests to make sure the hardware itself works as it’s supposed to, and he’ll probably ship me a couple boards next week. In the meantime, I am doing as much as I can so that e8th will be ready to run on the boards he sends.

Besides the programming tasks, I spent a good amount of effort “reaching out” to potential users, potential clients and potential partners. We really would like to get a corporate sponsor, and I’m particularly interested in trying to get the folks at ST Microelectronics on as sponsors — it’s their chip that is the heart of our board. So far, it’s been difficult to find anyone there who is a likely responsible party. The search continues…

Stuff:

I received an acknowledgement of my bid (which I mentioned last week), and will probably hear something more next week. I also heard from a Singaporean businessman (owner of an electronics manufacturing company) who may be interested in working with us. That made me contact our Indian partners, since Singapore is their territory. They gave us the go-ahead to work with the aforementioned businessman, should that become a reality. I also went to Herzliya (just north of Tel-Aviv) to meet with a potential customer for our embedded product. An interesting week.

The weather was really pleasant all week. Now it’s warming up, and we will have a “heavy heat-wave” for the beginning of the week — just in time for Esther’s triumphant return!

Sorry, once again I gotta run and get stuff ready for shabbat. I know you understand!

The two of use are “roughing it” once more for shabbat, though we have been invited out for one meal. For the remaining meals we’ll have:
cheap red wine (sorry, Fred), ḥumus, onion and sweet red-pepper pashtida, zucchini pashtida, lamb chops (only for me…), snap peas, rice, and chocolate brownies with walnuts.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
