Mar 30th
It’s been a pretty hectic week: trying to finish work for my client, trying to get a new release of 8th made, and getting ready for pesaḥ. Fortunately, we managed all of those and more!
I finally finished my client’s “pilot” project. In it, I created two applications for them, which had to communicate with each other and with their specialized hardware as well. It would have taken a lot less time had they known exactly what they wanted and communicated that to me clearly. But in the end, it worked out; the client seems happy, and asked for an invoice…
The new 8th release was only finally made this very morning, after a lot of testing and re-testing. I made some significant internal changes, and fixed a number of issues; so hopefully my customers will appreciate all the hard work that went into the release!
Various items of interest;
- Reverse-engineering the Cuban “sonic weapon attack” (yes, that’s a real thing).
- Using ‘blockchain’ technology? Security vulnerabilities in some “Smart Contracts” implementations.
- And if you’re thinking about using blockchain tech, consider some things first.
- In light of recent revelations about Facebook’s privacy issues, Mozilla is ceasing advertising on FB.
- And just as you were getting comfortable again, new branch-prediction attacks have been discovered.
In a couple hours, we’ll start making soft homemade maṣoth for tonight’s seder meal.
We really, really, hope Sarah can make it today; she was coming down with a bad cold, and may not be up to making the trip. That will make us all much less happy than we want to be! רפואה שלימה, שרה!
We’ve got a crowd over for dinner (a.k.a. the seder). Among other things, we'll serve:
homemade soft maṣoth as well as the commercial hard kind,
lots and lots of wine (at least 4 cups for everyone!),
various vegetable “appetizers”,
some bitter vegetables,
a lamb shank-bone,
huevos haminados,
horseradish sauce,
veggie matsa-ball soup,
baked chicken,
brisket,
lamb-fava stew,
rice,
sweet-and-sour tofu,
braised leeks,
roasted potatoes,
green beans,
various salatim,
and pesaḥ brownies.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom and ḥag sameaḥ!
