Esther left for Argentina this week, so things were a bit hectic: making sure all the documents she needed were prepared, the COVID tests, the packing, etc. We were both a bit frazzled.
Fortunately, though the trip was 24 hours long, she arrived safely, and was greeted by her brother and niece. She’s staying with her mom, and apparently the entire family is coming over for shabbat to enjoy her cooking. Nice vacation! Luckily for them, she likes to cook.
Mom had a scheduled hospital visit to review the status of her feet; unfortunately, the consensus was she needs a TMA procedure. I was able to convince them to let her come home for shabbat first, but we’ll be returning on Sunday, apparently, to start things.
In the meantime, I’ve got a ton of things to do, so this will be a short blog.
Various and sundry:
- A macOS “zero-day” was used against Hong Kong activists
- DDR4 memory protections are broken by a new “Rowhammer attack”
- In England, a terminally ill man decided to “moon” a speed camera (it was on his “bucket list”; don’t be a hater). Anyway, the police took the case very seriously, sending seven cops to arrest this man. To find out why, watch the video.
- A sign of the (end) times? A Canadian doctor has diagnosed a woman with ‘climate change’. Truly revolutionary, and stupid…
- The COP26 climate-change summit and trans-nonbinary-liberation. What, you didn’t think there was a connection?
- And “Communism destroyed Russian cooking”. Dunno, I’ve sampled a lot of Russian cooking, and it’s mostly frightening.
I’ve got to get my bread started, and the rest of today’s fare prepared. Hopefully I’ll get Mom to eat some of it, as well.
This shabbat, Ron’s menu includes:
homemade sourdough ciabatta,
curried squash soup,
beef stew,
rice,
roasted eggplant salad,
tomato salad,
tuna salad,
and spice cake.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
