An interesting question, which has puzzled many over the years, is “Why does Gaza have so many hospitals”? They have 36 for a population of 2.2m (16.36/m) while Israel has just 45 for 9.5m (4.74/m). In other words, Gaza has almost 3.5 times as many hospitals per capita as Israel does, which begs the question: “Why?”.

This week, we got some answers. In light of the “Shifaa” hospital being used as a Hamas center, providing cover for Hamas, and video of hostages being manhandled in the facility, the IDF has arrested the director of Shifaa hospital. This is just the beginning.

Or is it? A “cease-fire” went into effect, presumably, at 07:00 our time. Hamas fired rockets at 07:15 — and yet, we are maintaining the “cease-fire”. I must ask, with all humility, WTF is wrong with our leaders? This is a bad deal, both tactically and strategically. Giving Hamas scum four days of freedom to regroup is asinine and will undoubtedly boost their morale and cause us more casualties. Not to mention that Hamas have absolutely refused to let the Red Cross in to check on the hostages, even now.

Other things:

  • A Libertarian finally wins! In Argentina, that is. It will be interesting to see whether or not Milei is able to put any of his policies into effect. It will be even more interesting to see if, after he does, whether or not they have the positive effect we all hope for.
  • Mallen asks “What happens if Trump wins in 2024”?
  • My friend’s somewhat grim blog this week.
  • An Israeli Arab recounts his actions on that black shabbat.
  • And an interview with Gad Saad on the rise of antisemitism on the Left.

And now, for something completely different!

Inspired by Daniela et. fam. and their trip to her in-laws for Thanksgiving, we did a mini-T-Day feast. On the menu: turkey-thigh roulade stuffed with a mushroom-spinach duxelle, polenta muffins, candied yams with sesame, arugula salad, and a pleasant Gamla “Blanco”.

And cranberry sauce from a can, as the Lord commanded!

We had some heavy rain this week, and I’m very pleased to announce that as of today, the roof repairs seems to have been effective. Not going to hire a “roofer” any more; they’re all scammers!

We’re supposed to have clear weather for shabbat, perhaps rain and cold on Monday. We’ll take it!

This shabbat we’ve got guests for a meal! Our menu features:
homemade ḥalla, beer-baked brisket, fish cakes, rice, polenta muffins, zucchini pashtida various salatim, and ice-cream.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom

May God grant strength and victory to our brave troops, and sorely needed wisdom to our leaders, amen!
