We’ve spent our time wisely, preparing for our upcoming trip to the Grands. We’re trying to find appropriate offerings to bring, but it’s a bit of a challenge. Nevertheless, we persevere in hopes of finding just the right colors, etc., to please our demanding off-offspring. We’re getting a bit ahead of ourselves, it’s true: I brought our suitcases into the house though we’ve got time yet…
I was “working my *ss off” this week; though, it must be said, there’s no noticeable diminution of that area as far as I can tell. My main client gave me a ton of work, and I gave them software to look at. I’m still waiting for the feedback, alas. It’s just that I work quickly, and people are used to sluggards.
Esther’s been concentrating on knitting offerings to the mini-mes. So far, the complex one for the pinkaholic is finished and looks very nice; the boys are getting identical (save for size) simpler knits, which I’m hopeful she’ll finish before our translation across the Atlantic.
Various and sundry:
- Holly's Requiem for a (former) Hero, Sam Harris.
- CNN reports that though everyone experiences the circadian rhythm disruptions surrounding Daylight Savings Time, “People of Color”… “disproportionately experience them more”. What, exactly, are they trying to say about “POC”? Everything, literally everything, is now about “race”. It’s a race to the bottom.
- Prof. Hossenfelder discusses nuclear waste, and what do we do with it? Quite a lot, in fact.
- PreOccupied Territory: You Zionists Are Trying To Kidnap What We Arabs Have Rightfully Stolen! (it helps to have seen “The Princess Bride”)
- Triggernometry has a fascinating discussion with an expert on Iran, regarding the ongoing revolt there. I can’t contain my admiration for the bravery of the Iranian people considering the severe penalties they face for their actions.
- Speaking of revolts, it looks like the CCP is in trouble. B”H!
As you know, we recently had elections here in Israel, and Bibi got the mandate to form a “right-wing” government. As is customarily the case, some are pleased with the results and some are not. That’s just how democratic systems work. What is different and disturbing this time around is the overwrought reaction among our supposed allies and friends. A Monkeypox on both their houses!
The weather is in the cooling-down phase preparing for winter. It’s now getting cold enough in the house that we’ll probably turn the heating on for shabbat. The forecast is for clear and “cold”, around 15C or so. Yes, I know it’s much colder on the East Coast of the US, thank you for pouring salt in my wounds!
This shabbat (limited time only, act now!) our feast includes:
non-homemade ḥalla,
split-pea soup,
baked chicken,
various salatim,
and cinnamon rolls.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
