Happy 5th of July! Actually, I need a fifth of rum to try to erase from my memory the ongoing train-wreck occurring in my birth-country. I was too stunned last week to mention the “Presidential ‘Debate’” sic., which was so far beyond parody as to be unsurpassed. I do hope POTUS gets over his “cold” soon; such things are more dangerous in the elderly and senile.

Then there was a pogrom in Los Angeles, that’s nice. And not to feel left-out, the Turks refused to refuel an El Al plane that made an emergency landing. Fantastic. Of course, there were many other fine incidents to report, but I won’t.

Yidden! Get the hell out of the Exile now, please, while it’s not difficult!

As for us? For our anniversary we went to a nice dairy restaurant we’ve been to in the past. Unlike our other recent experience, we were not disappointed at all. In fact, the service was superb and the food was very good. So +1 to Piccolino! Then, we went for ice-cream and found an excellent gelato place, “Pinoli” at Ben Yehuda 8 in Jerusalem. Fantastic gelato, and some quite unique flavors. Well worth the calories, once in a while.

My zemanim application development is winding down, having received some good feedback from beta testers. Anticipated release next week, B”H! There are some fiddling bits related to “code signing” and “packaging” which I’ll have to address. I also need to finalize the iOS version.

Hey, it keeps me out of jail!

The weather was warm as usual, and today will be even warmer. Fortunately, shabbat will be cooler, with a heat wave in the offing.

We might have guests this shabbat, and our menu may include:
homemade ḥalla, Lancashire hot-pot, baked chicken, roasted squash, various salatim, watermelon, and fruit crumble.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom and ḥodesh ṭov!
