Since this was our first full “normal” week after the Tishrei Trifecta (well, Quadfecta, really), we did “normal” things. Esther worked and went to work. I spent a lot of time on the “office clean-up”.
One of the things which has been bothering me is that I don’t have enough storage space in the office. So I’d thought perhaps we could get a couple (relatively) cheap bookcases from IKEA. But in the middle of the night (why is it always in the middle of the night?) I awoke, thinking I could probably just repurpose two bookcases which were holding our darling (though absentee) daughters’ books.
So repurpose I did! I spent most of the week discovering hidden treasures which had remained unearthed for the better part of two decades, then cruelly consigning them to the Dumpster. I could probably get a second career as an archaeologist, if tossing out old treasures was part of the job…
But now (as Esther says) we can see the floor, so that’s a major improvement!
Around the bend:
- Lisa writes about The Tree of Knowledge.
- A British Jew: I loved Britain until it turned on me for being Jewish.
- Amazon’s “AWS” service went down this week, causing a lot of turmoil. There’s a lesson here, folks: “the Cloud” is just “someone else’s computer”; and you really need to build-in failover capability.
- Socialist Minneapolis mayoral candidate falls for “Chief Rabbi of Gaza” parody account. Truth is, it’s unfair to engage in a battle of wits with the unarmed.
- Against Moderation.
- And a truly fun game for the entire family!
The US VP decided he had to come here one day and mess up the traffic. Then the US Sect’y of State decided he, likewise, had to. I hope the entire US Congress doesn’t decide to visit because, frankly, it’s impossible to traverse Jerusalem when “dignitaries” of the US persuasion are in town. The 30-car motorcades are just too much for our 3,000 year old capital city.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!
We’ve had a couple warm days, but it’s supposed to cool down a little for shabbat, which is fondly to be desired.
This shabbat we’re on our own and expect to partake of:
homemade ḥalla,
chicken soup,`
pargiot,
rice,
stuffed mushrooms,
various salatim,
and honey-cake.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
