We began this week with the “intermediate days” of Sukkoth, and found out that all the hostages who we had been informed were still alive, had been released. So it was indeed a joyous “Shemini Aṣereth”; even more so, since it was exactly two years prior (the same day, on the Hebrew calendar) when the “October 7th” barbarian raid instigated the war.
As my friend says below: “I am not the same person I was two years ago”. I know I’m not; and I believe it is impossible for me ever to be once more the person I was then. For now I know precisely how evil our enemies are, and how pointless “discussions” and “treaties” &c. are with debased creatures for whom “honor” demands my and my people’s eradication.
So as another friend of mine likes to say, “Just f* these people!”. Sorry, not sorry.
As to why we’re insisting on retrieving the bodies of those hostages presumed to be dead, someone mentioned that quite apart from the minimal requirement to provide the closure of proper burial to their families, we need to be certain those people are, indeed, deceased. For as I pointed out above, obliquely, our enemies are lying sacks of shit. Oops, did that offend someone? Sorry, not even a little tiny bit sorry!
Various tidbits:
- Another excellent post from my friend: (Heart-)Breaking News.
- Melissa Chen on “🇮🇱WAR & PEACE🇵🇸”
- Uri: Hamas blinked first, and where did the Palestinians really come from?
- Erin Molan interviews Tal Hartuv: a woman who had been stabbed 18 times, and whose attacker has just been released “for peace”.
- Yassine: the other Moroccan immigant in the house.
- In ironic news: Saleh Aljafarawi, aka “Mr. FAFO” was killed by Gazans. The irony is that he was claimed to have been killed many times by the IDF; yet, catlike, he sprang back to life each time. Well, except for this last time, that is.
- Tea: the drink that started a revolution!
We got our “flu shots”. I disassembled the sukkah and cleaned up the back. Esther forbade me from doing that while she was gone, since she’s concerned lest I fall off the ladder and nobody notice for some hours. In any event, my feet did not falter as I removed the bamboo topping of our temporary shed. B”H!
I submitted a new build of my zemanim app for Android, to Google, because they changed requirements. Awaiting their wise judgement with bated breath. I should update the Apple version as well, but I’m out of steam, currently.
The weather during the holiday(s) was truly pleasant, and will be more or less the same on shabbat. However, we’re scheduled for some heat mid-week. I disapprove of this. Sorry (not sorry)!
This shabbat we’ve guests for one meal. We’ll fatten them up with:
homemade ḥalla,
baked chicken,
roasted potatoes,
baked salmon,
various salatim,
and honey-cake.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
