Another spicy week!
Intermittent incoming Iranian and Hizb’allah missiles notwithstanding, I finally managed to assemble the power supply I’ve mentioned before. You can see it powering an Arduino sub-project (the hopefully upcoming variable voltage supply). The case is a repurposed old UPS case, since I needed a larger case to house the original PC power supply plus extra components. I’ll work on that sub-project next week, perhaps; at present, the supply is useful as-is.
I also made a new release of “8th”; again, despite the various “incoming”. And I did three hours’ work in the garden, replacing a fence. So now my whole body hurts.
Did some fixing of the irrigation. Esther knitted with her friend. Apart from that, we accomplished very little this week.
Various topics of note:
- Preston Stewart’s vids on the war this week: 1, and 2
- Uri’s thoughts on a war in progress and why he trusts news from Israel etc.
- The end of Qatari exceptionalism.
- Tom Nash: Iran already lost, now comes the collapse.
- More Israeli inventiveness: how long have you been in the safe-room/bomb-shelter?
- On the other hand, the “Iron Beam” isn’t ready just yet. As a software developer, I feel this.
- Language nerds: why English spelling actually does make sense.
- History/food nerds: The Poor Man’s drink.
Once again, prudence suggests we stay at or near home this shabbat. The weather will perhaps be rainy, with a chance of falling metal.
This shabbat we’ll try to have uninterrupted meals, consisting of:
homemade ḥalla,
pargiot,
slow-cooked ribs,
rice,
homemade ḥummus,
various salatim,
and chocolate-chip cookies.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
