Hi, again!

Shavuot! Alas, it's behind us now, but we had a pleasant and restful holiday. It's a great thing to have a vacation in the middle of the week! Too bad it wasn't on Thursday or Sunday, so we could have had a long vacation... but them's the breaks!

Daniela made her "world famous" dulce-de-leche cheesecake bars, and Esther made two kinds of ice-cream. We had baked salmon for the daytime meal, and the evening meal we had at our neighbor's -- who gave us among other things, "sticky date pudding" (yum!). The price of course, was Daniela getting interrogated by the neighbors... but I was willing to pay that price for some sticky date pudding!

Other than that it was a quiet week. Unfortunately, my ladies took ill yesterday, so Esther didn't go to work and she and Daniela tried to comfort each other. I came home later and made dinner ... but it was a poor effort, and so I'm aiming to redeem myself today with a good shabbat meal. However, Sarah will be spending shabbat at her friend's place in Reḥovoth, since this is her friend's last shabbat here for a while.

What else? Really not much; the news was full of the master of turgid prose. A little too full, but what else could the American news media talk about? Matters of substance? Hah! The Syrians tried to breach our borders by means of semi-unarmed "civilians", to distract from their massacring their citizens. The weather here is turning hot, but that's to be expected in June.

Here, have a laugh -- you need it!

As I mentioned, my girls are under the weather this week, so I'm going to feed them: puchero (Argentine chicken stew/soup), salmon salad, tomato-cucumber salad, rosemary roasted potatoes, lamb and ḥummus stew, Asian cabbage and chicken salad, plain white rice. fruit salad, hard-boiled eggs.

Until next week,
shabbat shalom!
