חודש טוב! Happy new-month!
The month of elul has started, which means it’s exactly one (lunar) month until Rosh HaShanah (Jewish New Year). I know I’m not ready, but I think nobody else is either, this crazy, strange year. Hoping someone figures out what’s going to be happening; sooner, rather than later.
Our olive trees are full enough that the branches are hanging low, so we took 3kg of olives off one of them, and are starting the processing. In a couple months we’ll have nice olives, hopefully.
Esther and I finally got new phones. Her old one wouldn’t hold a charge any more (we’d already replaced the battery once), and my old one wouldn’t respond properly to touch. So we upgraded to the Redmi Note 9 Pro. All I can say, is “wow!”. Absolutely incredible battery life, great screen and cameras. Let’s hope they hold up for another three years.
The Dems are in serious trouble, I think. If the best they could do was have Cardi B (a particularly foul-mouthed rapper and former stripper) “interview” Biden, things aren’t looking good. I can’t even begin to talk about the disaster which is the DNC. The less said, the better.
Things you may not have seen:
- The Left has lost its cool. They can’t handle Trump pardoning Susan B Anthony.
- The Norks clamp down on “decadent pet dogs”. “Authorities have identified households with pet dogs and are forcing them to give them up or forcefully confiscating them and putting them down.” Isn’t Communism grand?
- And the PRC is banning some text editor software because Hong Kong.
- One of the best analyses of the UAE/Israel talks and peace-agreement.
- The PA isn’t happy about them! Neither are Leftists, apparently.
- “Jews without Israel”: another excellent article from Einat Wilf.
- Cory Doctorow writes that self-driving cars are “BS”. He’s right, I think.
- In case you can’t control your urges, the Pavlok is here to help, 450V at a time!
I made a new release of 8th this week and also announced a sale, so hopefully I’ll open up my email after shabbat to loads of new customers. Probably not, but one can dream!
Sarah’s ultrasound didn’t show anything alarming, so her doctor sent her to another doctor for more tests. Hopefully some sort of resolution will occur soon.
The weather’s been fine for ME summer, so no complaints. Shabbat should be a bit cooler than average (and I see clouds as I’m writing this).
Our gustatory experiences this shabbat will include:
my rye-sourdough rolls (ver 2.0),
Moroccan olive-lemon chicken,
basmati rice,
garlicky green-beans,
some kind of eggplant dish,
various salatim,
and refreshing watermelon.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
