Happy birthday Sarah!

I managed to plant our bulbs before the major rainstorm swept in, which was very good timing on my part! I also went to two doctor appointments. The first was to ask my GP about a lingering headache, which she feels is a skeletal-nerve-muscle thing for which I need to do certain exercises.

The second was to (finally!) do a gastroscopy, to figure out what the abdominal pain I had originally complained about at the start of the year is being caused by. So we had to go to Jerusalem early in the morning, and poor Esther had to hang out for two hours while I got to sleep very soundly during the procedure. I won’t know what the actual results are for a while, but the doctor didn’t think there was anything too alarming. Of course, it’s not his stomach…

The reason for the long delay between complaint and treatment is that the doctor my GP referred me to is popular and has a long waiting list, and my complaint wasn’t an “urgent” variety so going “private” wasn’t needed. Therefore, one waits.

On the way back we got soaked because we had forgotten it was supposed to rain a lot, so we were only clothed in light jackets. That was invigorating.

Around the bend:

Y’all keep scoffing at my spending any time whatsoever on “social media”, but it is most informative! And not to brag, but I was able to scrounge more sheet glass which someone had tossed out. Wastrels!

We did more shopping for the Grands, stupidly. “Stupidly”, because we’d already done the shopping several weeks ago, but one of the bags turned up missing (well, it didn’t turn up, it was missing!). Either I threw it out during my cleaning rampage, or we’d left it in the store, or perhaps Elijah the prophet came in dead of night and absconded with it. We’ll never know, but it was a bit irritating to do a “do-over”.

We did pray for rain, and we sure did get a lot of it this week! There may even still be some rain shabbat morning, but we’ll have to wait and see. We’ve finally had to turn on the heat…

This shabbat we’re on our own and probably staying indoors. Our menu includes:
homemade ḥalla, tomato-basil-miso soup, grilled sinta (sirloin), roasted eggplant, various salatim, and banana-cake.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
